Catching Up

Wow, I have been so busy, that I have not had a chance to blog, quilt, or much of anything else. I have been knitting alot, and it seems that between work, Beany, the dogs, my Mom, and my kids, I barely have time to catch my breath. I am still working on my Grandmother's Flower Garden, as I will be for many years to come, and I have some new ideas in the sketch book. I have been saving some great patterns from all my favorite places and magazines for future projects. Once summer is over and things settle down, I feel that I will have more time to do things that I love. Happy Summer Everyone!

Las Vegas

The Las Vegas trip has been cancelled, at least for now. I have so much going on at work, that I just can't take the time off right now. I re-subscribed to Love of Quilting, and I got the first issue in the mail on Thursday. Since looking through it Friday night, I am just itching to do some quilting. I have a crochet and a knitting project going, and just finished Cory and Ivey's wedding album, so my plate is pretty full. Anyone know where I might be able to buy a couple extra days this month?

There are not enough hours...

I have been so busy, that I haven't had any time to post. I am working 12 and 14 hours a day and there are so many others things going on. Weddings, birthday parties, golf tournaments, and on and on and on. There just never seem to be enough hours in the day to do all the things that you want to do. And, for me, the days seem to get shorter and shorter. I am still working on the Grandmother's Flower Garden, but I am on hold for other projects right now. I finished the art quilt for Parker and Tiffany and it turned out great! I want to start some Christmas projects, but I have to get some things organized first. Randy and I are going to Vegas the end of May to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and I am trying to get things in order at work, so that I can take that time off. Whew!

Dolls and Stuff

I love the dolls on Karen's blog. She is so talented! I tried to make dolls a few years back, but I just didn't think they were very pretty. They were not prims, just regular dolls. Would love to take a class on that, and make some for my friends grandchildren, and that little GRANDDAUGHTER I hope to have one of these days!

Surgery YIKES!

I had the dental surgery on Wednesday, and I am here to tell you, it was not pleasant, and I hope never to do it again. With all the technology they have today, there should be a better way. In addition, I am wearing a retainer that makes me talk like my 2 front teeth are missing. Not very funny at my age! But, the good part is that when I feel like it, I can sew. Today has been my best day so far, and I have done some quilting. And when I don't feel like it, I can surf the quilting blogs!

A Quilting Weekend

I am so looking forward to the weekend! My little angel grandbaby will be here, but he is my best quilting buddy! He helps me, gives me his opinion on how things look, and also keeps me laughing. I am not sure what is better medicine for me, Beany or my quilting. I am going to finish the art quilt and the Dresden plate this weekend, and continue working on the GRG, which is now considered my masterpiece. Isn't quilting the best? Next to grandchildren I mean.

Catching Up

What a week! I have been running like a mad woman for the past 2 weeks, and it seems that I may be doing it for a while. There are just never enough hours in the day, and then the days just fly by! The month of January has been a complete blur! But then, most of 2007 was also! Don't you wish that we could slow down, and live like people did years ago before all the technology took control? I know that I do! My GRG is coming along beautifully, better than ever before, and yesterday, while sewing with my Mom, I started an art quilt for my son and his fiance. It is a small wall hanging, and so cute. It is a caricature of their dog, Milo. I think that they will love it. I hope to have it finished soon, since it is small. The hand quilting will take the most time. The Dresden plate has taken a back seat to my busy schedule, but is not gone, just on hold. I need 10 extra hours everyday to work on my quilts....can someone find that for me???

The Weekend

The snow came, and was so beautiful falling. The temps this morning are in the teens, and so we still have snow on the ground, though it melted a lot yesterday. I spent the whole day working on UFO's, but did not make as much progress as I thought I would. I plan to work more today, and hopefully, get at least one quilt finished. I made a Dresden plate quilt(pictured here) from Fons and Porter's Love of Quilting, and I truly think it is the best quilt that I have ever made. I am in the process of hand quilting it, and then I need to bind it, so I hope to finish that today. It was so much fun to make. I ordered the templates from Fons and Porter and used all 30's fabrics, which are my favorites. So, I hope to have it hanging on my wall later today.

Quilting Time

We had snow this week, and in Atlanta, that is rare. It was beautiful falling and everything was crisp and white. It didn't last long though and was gone the next day. Good news is that we are supposed to get snow tonight and all day tomorrow, which is Saturday. This is a rare treat in the South, and I am happy! I plan to spend the whole day working on quilts. I need to catch up on Bonnie's Mystery Quilt, and I have several UFO's that I need to finish. And, I always have Grandmother's Flower Garden. So, I am looking forward to the weekend!

UFO'S

I have several of these little buggers. I just don't have the set up for quilting, so once I make the top, I just put them away and go on to something else. Or, I stop in the middle of a quilt, and start another quilt. I am so bad. If I look at a magazine or a website and a quilt jumps out at me, I immediately want to make it. Well, I am trying to stop doing that. I am trying really hard to finish all my UFO'S and not start another until they are all done. So, since I have declared 2008 my year, this is one of my goals. I have many goals, and I have been accomplishing some things. Yeah Lynn!

Fickle Fate

Well, after all my hard work to clear out the breakfast nook in my kitchen and set up my sewing, Jason told his father and me that he is moving out in about 2 weeks. When he moved in, I had to give up my sewing room so that he could have a bedroom, and now it is going to be available again. Fate hates me......

Inspiration

I have been complaining all the time about the fact that I never have time to work on my quilts. I am making a place in my kitchen to work, but don't have it finished yet. I am always thinking that I could do alot of piecing by hand if I could get organized. Well, the other night I was reading the digest from the Mystery Quilt group that I am in, and one of my fellow Georgian's Judy, said that she had done a 1000 Triangle quilt on her lunch hour. That made me start thinking, and I realized that I didn't need a new quilt to hand piece, I already had one! Grandmother's Flower Garden! Wake up Blondie! So, I started putting it all together and now I am carrying work around in my purse so that I can sew whenever I want! Thank you Judy, you are an inspiration!

Hurray for 2008!

Happy New Year Everyone! I am looking forward to a fresh new start for the New Year. I am cleaning, organizing, and getting a small space set up in my kitchen where I can work on my quilts without having to put anything away. It is taking some creative ideas to make this work, but I think I can do it. I am so excited about this coming year, it is going to be my year! Happy Quilting all!
